Reconciliation

Importers with complex supply chains may not always have all the necessary information for customs when submitting their entries. In order to ensure accuracy, the U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) allows for importers to flag estimated information on entry summaries at time of submission then file a Reconciliation at a later date with the accurate data. This gives importers the opportunity to make corrections to their entries after the merchandise has been released and duties paid.

THE ANSWER FOR INDETERMINABLE INFORMATION AT THE TIME OF ENTRY

“Reconciliation allows an importer to revise certain elements of an entry summary that were undeterminable at the time the merchandise was entered, such as, value, 9802, classification, and FTA.” -CBP
